Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Detroit

There was a story on the news today about a fatal motorcycle accident in Detroit yesterday that shut down the expressway for three hours. According to the Detroit Police, a Redford Township man fell from his motorcycle and was allegedly hit by a car near Mack Avenue on Detroit’s east side. Police do not know what caused the man to fall from the motorcycle and are still investigating this tragic accident.

I am very sorry to hear that this tragic motorcycle accident happened. My condolences go out to the family and friends of the biker for their loss.

Our Michigan motorcycle accident lawyers advise bikers of their legal rights. Also, the family members of the deceased victims may have a claim for a Michigan wrongful death lawsuit against the driver that police determine was negligent and caused these car accidents. Detroit Fatal Motorcycle Accident

A 40 year old biker suffered fatal injuries in a Detroit motorcycle accident last night.  Police report that Rochelle Ringo was travelling on Gratiot when a van turned into her path and caused the accident.  The driver left the scene of this hit and run accident.  Detroit police are following up leads to find the driver.

It am always amazed at the indifference of a person who could be involved in such an accident and leave the scene without knowing if the accident victim will survive.  I certainly hope that the driver is caught and brought to justice.  My thoughts go out to this woman’s family.

The surviving family may have a number of legal rights to pursue, even though the negligent driver has not yet been identified.  This could include claims for funeral expenses, lost income, and the loss of this woman’s companionship.  There are deadlines for filing these claims and it is important to hire a Michigan motorcycle accident lawyer as soon as possible to look into all possible claims.

Michigan Motorcycle Accidents | Fatal Accidents Increase in 2008

The number of fatal Michigan motorcycle accidents is on the increase compared to 2007.  According to numbers released from the Office of Highway Safety Planning, motorcyclists are more likely to be in a fatal motor vehicle accident than almost any other type of driver.  Unfortunately, however, these accidents accidents are often caused by drivers of cars, trucks, and SUVs who fail to notice or look out for motorcycles while they are driving.

The increase in fatal motorcycle accidents is even more alarming because it bucks the trend of an overal decrease in the number of fatal traffic accidents.  Car accidents were down 10% overall, while the number of accidents involving property damage or personal injury also declined.  Because of this, it is important that every motorcyclist be extra cautious when driving in heavy traffic, since it is clear drivers of other vehicles do not pay attention to motorcycles.

Allegan County Fatal Motorcycle Accident Sentencing

A Kalamazoo woman was sentenced to ten days in jail for her involvement in a Michigan motorcycle accident that killed two bikers back on January 15, 2009.  The accident occurred in Allegan County and was caused when 25 year old Brooke Fahnddrich allegedely pulled in front of a motorcycle driven by Randy Ray of Ludington, Michigan.  His wife Linda Ray was also on the bike.  Both died in the accident.

Ms. Fahndrich was charged with the misdemeanor of attempted negligent homicide and pled to the offense.  In addition to the criminal charges, she may also face a civil lawsuit brought by family members of the bikers.  This would be a Michigan Wrongful Death lawsuit arising from the motorcycle accident.  Hopefully, Ms. Fahndrich had insurance on her vehicle so that the family can recover some compensation for their tragic loss.
